  THEY’VE been a saviour for many parents, but there are concerns wireless baby monitors could be dangerous.
  Brisbane-based author and researcher Donna Fisher called for a ban on the baby monitors, worried the radiation they emit could be harmful to children. Ms Fisher drew on a World Health Organisation ruling that radiation emitted from the monitors was “possibly carcinogenic”.

• Important New Russian Research on Cell Phone Radiation’s Effect on Cognitive and Other Functions in Children. “Our recent 4-year monitoring of effects from cell phone radiation on children, published in Radiation Biology. Radiation Ecology (Volume 51, No.5, 2011), demonstrates an increase in phonemic perception disorders, abatement of efficiency, reduced indicators for the arbitrary and semantic memory and increased fatigue. Over the four-year monitoring of 196 children ages 7-12 who were users of mobile communication devices, a steady decline in these parameters from high values to bottom standards compared was observed. The short-term and long-term potential consequences for society from exposing children to microwave radiation from cellular communication devices must be immediately acknowledged, globally, and responsibly addressed.”

Angelines Morales, de la asociación de mujeres Santa Bárbara, se sorprendió cuando recibió la carta que le invitaba a hacer alegaciones a la antena situada a unos metros de su casa. "Ni siquiera me había dado cuenta de que estaba colocada, parece más una chimenea", explicó. Según la vecina, en los últimos meses había sufrido "constantes dolores de cabeza" y un "fuerte cansancio", dolencias que achaca a la cercanía del aparato.
